How to Turn That Clothes Hanger Back into Your Exercise Equipment

 
You see it standing there in the middle of your house, a pinnacle of strength, a steadfast piece of machinery. You hold it in the highest esteem and put your utmost faith in its usefulness. For after all, it has given you a prime place to put your laundry.
 
Once upon a time you might have regarded it as the machine that would give you the body you desired-you vowed to work out on it every day and cut back on the amount of junk food you ate. It was all going to be good.
 
But now, the only ones getting time from it are your shirts and pants. And you know they aren't getting thinner from it.
 
So how do you get back into using the $1500 exercise equipment you were so sure would gude you to proper health and fitness?

1. Try to set aside a consistent time each day to work out on the equipment.
 
2. If possible, try setting up the equipment in front of the television screen so you can work out during your favorite shows. What you can also do is associate working out on the treadmill, for example, with a certain show. That way, every time the show comes on, it will prompt you to work out.  
 
3.  Put encouraging stickers on the equipment that will beckon you to use it. Stickers like "Way to go!" or "Congratulations!" may bring a certain novelty to the equipment that may reinforce a habit to use it.
 
4. Give yourself at least 3 months to work off your weight. 
When you are losing fat the way it was meant to be lost, the natural loss is only about 1-3 pounds a week. So be patient with yourself and try to pace your workouts.
 
5. Don't think exercise has to be high energy. If you have a treadmil, for example, you can walk as well as run on it. The important thing is just to improve your circulation and expand your lungs so you breathe fuller and deeper. So think low impact.
 
6. Learn the variables you can control on your piece of equipment. If it is a treadmill, does it have an incline? How fast can it go? Maybe you can moderate between sprints and walking for a more interesting workout.     
 
In the end, you can create a worthwhile enjoyable routine with your piece of equipment  that will boost your energy, clear your mind and help you slim down.
