Art of Meditation

Meditation can be a very useful way of calming the mind, refreshing the body and revitalizing the spirit. Wether you are taking part in a fashionable yoga class or simple sitting in a quiet room in your home, a few minutes of peace can be the gateway to serenity for the rest of the day.  Here are a few suggestions to get you started:

1.  Plan a resting period between 5-30 minutes a day, depending on how long you can handle. Tell everyone n your family about when you plan to do this ahead of time so they wil leave you uninterrupted.

2. Close your eyes and let the tension melt away in every part of your body, starting with the head and shoulders and working your way down your spine to your legs and feet.

3. Pay attention to your breathing and your heart rate. Try to raise your awareness to all that is around you. Be one with the silence.

4. Try to imagine a bright white shaft of light beaming down through an opening in your forehead and into your entire body.  Visualize this light spreading throughout your entire body, sweeping away all the tension and aches of the day.

5. Imagine you are at one with the universe. Feel all the life energy flow through your head, down your neck, down your torso and through your legs into the ground. You feel relaxed and peaceful.
