A lot of people, when they go on a diet, see their scale as their weight loss pal that will tell them wether
or not their weight loss efforts are being successful. They step on the scale maybe 3 times a day looking for that drop in
poundage that will boost their confidence so they can continue doing what they are doing. Oftentimes though the scale, like
a conniving deviant rebel, will taunt them with numbers that people who are earnestly trying to lose weight will jump back
in horrors at, end their weight loss program and wallow in a container of ice cream.
Well there are two truths here that every person should know and those are that
1. Weight fluctuates throughout the day depending on water retention, and
2. Muscle weighs more than fat, so even if you are losing that fatty appearance, you may be gaining lean
muscle which will show itself on the scale as a weight gain.
So as you can see, your body can be gaining or losing weight in a natural healthy way which calls for no
panic or drop in confidence that you may get if you see a slight weight gain on the scale.
The best way to measure if you have lost weight is by seeing how well your clothes fit on a weekly basis.
Your pants may get looser, your shirts may get roomier. If you wanted an accurate assessment of how much weight you lost you
can also use a tape measure and wrap it around your bicep, chest, stomach and thighs. You will lose inches before you lose
pounds, and based on your physiology, there may be days when you see no change at all and other days where you see a sudden
drop in weight. Either way, your clothes and not the scale can constitute as a happier weight loss friend.
