Teaching Kids Good Food Habits

Kids are very susceptible to whatever they come in contact with. We are talking about young children under 6 years of age here. While big business would like you to believe that treats and chocolate are for the young at heart, it can start them off on a crooked road to mental and physical problems such as obesity and tantrums and mood swings that seem otherwise unexplainable. In fact, popular tv shows like the American documentary "Supersize Me!" and the British show "School Dinners" have been making it more public that a diet high in nutrients and low in sugar and fat can save an innocent child from years of being labelled with so called mental disorders like Attention Deficit Disorder and temper flare ups at home.

Children do model behavior, whether it be from their school system or their parents or society in general. To maintain some control over what they eat, try preparing your child's meal before they go to school. Make sure it is highly nutritious and full of filling food that will keep your child happy throughout the afternoon. To discourage trading foods for junk food, try discussing with your child the benefits of sticking to a highly nutritious meal.
