The Acne Factor

Acne is one of those things that you may develop as a teenager, go to a costly dermatologist for, and spend hundreds more on medications, formulas and pills that give you side effects and symptoms that just make you tolerate with a grumble.

And sometimes if you're lucky, the acne goes away after a few years and you never see it again. Other times, it can persist on into your 30's and 40's!

But believe it or not, there are natural things you can do to avoid acne altogether. These things involve changing your diet and implementing exercise. Say goodbye to that $200 medication, those frustrating side effects and embarrassing appearance, and say hello to these face saving tips.

1.  Check to see if you have a food allergy that may be causing the problem. Foods like wheat, dairy, chocolate and sugar can all contribute to unsightly bumps on the skin, so taking them out of your diet altogerther may be the best prescription.

2. Exercise exercise exercise. Exercise helps improve circulation and organ function in the body so the body can get rid of waste chemicals faster. Have fun with exercise, too. Making something enjoyable is the best way to stick to it. Try walking, swimming, aerobics, kickboxing, or yoga. Twenty to thirty minutes a day is ideal, but if you are new to the concept, just try starting out slow with a few minutes a day and build up to more as the days go by.

3. Keep hydrated. Carry a water bottle with you and take sips from it frequently. Skin loves water and our bodies  are, after all, 98% water.
Don't let your body wittle down to 80% or you'll be feeling it on your skin! ;)

4. Eat a lot of fruit. Things like  papayas, apple, pineapple, kiwi and peaches are all natural sources of sugar and contain fibre rich nutrients that can help you feel full and refreshed. Try eating a little bit betwen every meal.

Allow yourself a week to 10 days for the clearing effects to occur and you'll be on your way to not only better skin but better health and a more vibrant you!
